FROM THE FINITE TO THE INFINITE TO THE FINITE TO THE INFINITE TO THE…
Synopsis
Choreographers and colleagues Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir and Marie Topp co-authored an interdisciplinary audio walk performance “FROM THE FINITE TO THE INFINITE TO THE FINITE TO THE INFINITE TO THE…”.
With this work they wish to invite the audience into their shared fascination and long-term artistic exploration of alternative temporalities as an inherent experiential field within our lives.
Placed in urban nature or urban environment of any kind, their proposal is to investigate the physical resonances and reflective processes that occur when a place is energetically transformed with an alien presence. The work questions how connections and memories arise within the body by proposing points of departure into the unknown, fantastical and imaginative within a metropolitan context.
Within each spatial contexts the audience moves through the environment carried by text and sound. During the walk they encounter a protagonist three different times . An unknown, a silhouette, an alien object in the environment. This unknown serves as the container of external realities that are not there. Inducing a foreign atmosphere. An atmosphere that would not be there otherwise. An atmosphere that brings questions into the environment and unveils hidden internal and external unconscious realities.
A 6 minute film work by Milja Rossi serves as the 4th chapter of the performance work. The audience is given a QR code on location and drawn into digital space. The 6 minutes film offers an alternative perspective on what has been experienced tracing the journey of the protagonist in another space and time.
During the creative process the performance material, film material, text and sound were created to function like 4 interconnected elastic threads when laid out and stretched within the map of any given context and space.
Premiere at Valbyparken, Copenhagen 2026.
