Synopsis

Choreographers and long term colleagues Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir and Marie Topp wish through their new site-specific 5 layered performance “FROM THE FINITE TO THE INFINITE TO THE FINITE TO THE INFINITE TO THE…” to invite the audience into their shared fascination and long-term artistic exploration of alternative temporalities of existence. Within a choreographed urban nature of any kind their proposal is to investigate the physical resonances and reflective processes that occur when a place is energetically transformed—how bodies can mirror, resonate, and dance together. The work questions how connections arise, how to live experiences together and what triggers the unconscious mind by proposing points of departure into the unknown, fantastical and imaginative within the site specific context.

Within each spatial context the audience move through the environment carried by text and sound by British cellist and composer Lucy Railton.They encounter a protagonist in the landscape. An unknown, a silhouette, an alien object in the environment. This unknown serves as the container of external realities that are not there. Inducing a foreign atmosphere. An atmosphere that would not be there otherwise.

A film work by Milja Rossi will be the 5th chapter of the performance work, serving simultaneously as a trail & a trace of the performance work, whilst being equally an artwork of its own. This site specific choreography is flexible and fluid and can therefore be installed, altered and rewritten for any given space and shared in whichever context we are invited to share the work within. Creating material which functions like interconnected elastic threads was a long standing wish of the creators to find new ways of working and touring and composing and living in unison with their own creations whilst accepting their ever evolving nature and living substance.
